1986 and 2021 American Silver Eagle 2-Coin Set in a Large Glass Display Case. Issued by the United States Mint in 1986 and 2021 this is a set of coins opening and closing an era. In 2021 The United Staes Mint issued a new version of an American Silver Eagle changing the reverse side image and adding a safety feature in the reeds of the coin. This became to be known as Type-2 eagle. The Type 1 coin has the original heraldic eagle with the front-facing bald eagle supporting the US national shield. The Type 2 coin features the new bald eagle soaring through the sky with an oak branch in its talons.

1986 and 2021 American Silver Eagle 2-Coin Set in a Large Glass Display Case. The set of two coins is placed in a slab with identical inserts. This is a symbol of continued quality and beauty. Only the year number was being change between 1986 and 2021. The American Silver Eagle become the most recognizable and for most the most beautiful State-minted coin in the world.

Breaking the tradition of the idiom “if you have a winning season, do not make changes”, the United States Mint modified otherwise a legendary design. The new design received mixed review from the numismatic community. Type 1 design become a thought-for coins to have. The larger premium and scarceness of this Type 1 coin is a testimony to the rejection of the new design coin appearance.  The offered set is comprised of the first issue 1986 and the last issue 2021 Type-1 American Silver Eagles.

Issued by the United States Mint in 1986 and 2021 this is an excellent addition to commemorate the Silver Eagle era.

The 2021 American Silver Eagle is available from the United States Mint in two different versions. The coins in BU Series were introduced in January 2021 with the original design combinations, while those coins struck from July 2021 onward featured the new reverse design element. You now have an opportunity to get both coins at once in a two-coin set with beautiful, gilded finishes. Right now, 2021 American Silver Eagle 2-Coin Sets with a gilded finish are available to purchase online.

Coin Set Highlights:

  • Contains 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver per coin.
  • Bears individual face values of $1 (USD) backed by the federal government.

  • On the reverse of the Type 1 coin is the heraldic eagle.

Each 2021 American Silver Eagle 2-Coin Set available here comes with individual capsules for each coin and a 2-coin presentation box to hold the two coins together. The 2021 Type 2 Silver Eagle with the new reverse was designed by Emily Damstra.

Since 1986, the heraldic eagle design created by John Mercanti has featured on the reverse side of all Silver Eagles in the bullion coins. As of mid-2021, a new design element replaces this iconic visual. Designed by Emily Damstra in 2020, the new image captures the American bald eagle in flight.

The obverse of both coins in the 2021 American Silver Eagle 2-Coin Set comes with the iconic Walking Liberty effigy. Created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, this left-profile image of Liberty shows her figure walking toward the sun on the horizon.
