This offer is for one coin – 1 ounce Mint Condition Aztec Mayan Calendar round .999 pure silver coin (gilded and antiqued) encapsulated in a Lighthouse Ever-slab on a custom background.
The coin was artistically gilded with 24 K gold and antiqued using a privately developed patina process. I provided images of the coin in various angels to show the antique color of the coin interacting with gold gilded parts. This results in visualizing various and astounding color effects. It seems that one never can capture the dominant color variation. It makes it interesting to always find a new beauty in the display each time that the coin is looked at.
The insert is a 4 mm holder with an opening holding the coin without the use of the “ever-present” holding tabs or holding fingers that tend to obstruct parts of the coin. The opening for the coin is engineered to permit snug fit applying enough friction that the coin cannot be rotated without prior removal of it.
The Slab details – The “Leuchtturum Everslab” provided by Lighthouse. If needed, the slab can be opened to access the coin. The slab is compatible in size with the slabs used by the Coin Grading Society’s slabs dimensions and can be added to any collection of slabs. The advantage of our slab is that the front side of the slab is free of any creases, dividers etc. thus providing a clear surface to enjoy the coin view on the custom background created by VanArtStudios, an affiliate of delis.inc.
The insert and the slab that are part of the presentation are provided free of charge. The coin is in Before Use and in Mint condition.
The gilding and antiquing process is made by hand in multiple steps. It is a process that I have developed as a result of long and intense testing and research/consulting efforts. My objective is to blend gold with antique silver such that the boundaries are not clearly defined. This requires initial gilding, then antiquing solutions, cleaning, re-gilding, and performing additional buffing steps each resulting with the increased quality and harmony of the design. The process has to vary to deliver desired artistically pleasant coin appearance.
The gold and silver interact and project shadows and light effects against each other. Each coin is unique and is considered ready for sale only after the artistic value has been achieved.
As to the slab and the insert design, it is not that hard to place the coin in a round capsule. The more challenging is to incorporate the coins’ theme “in a story” and give it an expression. I seek that the background of the slab is unique and is in the harmony with the coin’s design. This approach prevails throughout other listed slabbed coins that I have presented on eBay.
My presentations are time involved but the beauty of a final product is a concurring reward.
