The 2023 Britannia coin from The Royal Mint has four distinctive security features.
The first security element is a wave pattern in the background that captures light on the ground of the coin.
The second security element is Britannia’s shield. It displays fine, smooth lines.
The third element features a holographic image of a padlock within a small circle in the lower left corner.
The forth security enhancement displays the Latin phrase “Decus Et Tutamen,” It is micro-etched in very small type along the inner rim of the coin.

Obverse:
His Majesty King Charles III is displayed for the first time in the series, his left-facing profile set against a guilloché security pattern that gives the appearance of intertwined circles. Inscriptions are “CHARLES III . D . G . REX . F . D . 2 POUNDS.”
Reverse:
The reverse represents a helmeted Lady Britannia holding a trident in one hand and a shield in the other. In addition, four new anti-counterfeiting security features presented in 2021 are included. “BRITANNIA . 2023 . 1 oz 999 FINE Gold” is inscribed within the narrow rim band.
