The coin’s obverse side features the artwork of Ian Rank-Broadley. An image of Queen Elizabeth II is shown in profile as she is wearing her regal tiara. Inscribed around the queen are markings for the country, the queen’s name and the minting year which reads “Elizabeth II Australia 2015.” Below her the coins 1 Dollar face value is listed.
The coin’s reverse features a brand new design of the Kookaburra, a famous native bird of Australia. These birds are known for their call which mimics human laughter. In this depiction, the bird is perched upon a tree stump facing right. Great attention has been paid to the details of the bird and one will notice that each of its feathers has been etched in great detail. Several leaves compliment the background. Surrounding this scene are inscriptions for the coin’s specifications which read “The Australian Kookaburra 1 oz .999 Silver 1990-2015.” These coins not only showcase one of Australia’s most famous native bird species, but also celebrate the coin’s 25th year of minting.
With an incredibly detailed design, a high level of purity, and only a limited annual mintage, this and many of Perth’s other products are sought after by investors and collectors from around the world.
